Workforce Development Board
The Capital Region Workforce Development Board (CRWDB) is responsible for providing oversight and policy direction for the utilization of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds in the Capital Region, comprised of the jurisdictions of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, and Richmond City.
The CRWDB is a majority business-led body, appointed by the Consortium of Local Elected Officials. The CRWDB, whose composition is defined by the WIOA, includes individuals representing business leaders, local educational entities, labor organizations, community-based organizations, economic development agencies, and other workforce agencies.
The role of the Board is to:
- Provide fiscal and programmatic oversight
- Establish policies to carry out the board’s workforce development mission
- Create a local workforce vision and provide leadership
- Act as a community convener to insure workforce concerns are addressed and advanced in a collaborative manner
The Capital Region Workforce Development Board brings together business and industry, education, economic development and other public entities striving to ensure adequate investment in today’s workforce; and preparing tomorrow’s workforce to ensure they have the skills to meet the demand of the region’s growth sectors.
